Glass Studio Hytti is located in Suomenlinna, on Susisaari island, within the thick walls of Bastion Hyve. Hytti is Helsinki's only glassblowing studio. The studio was originally founded by Heikki Kallio, a pioneer of Finnish studio glass art, in the early 1980s. Today, Anna Schroderus and Esko Kurvinen are responsible for the studio's operations.

Glass Studio Hytti has served as a platform for many artists working with glass. We have rented studio time for glassblowing and grinding to glass professionals, and we have collaborated with designers, glass artists, and artists from other visual fields on various projects, exhibitions, and artwork productions.

Bastion Hyve is one of the oldest parts of the fortress, and one of the main visitor routes passes by it. When glass is being blown, the doors of Hytti are open, and passersby can observe the work. A large number of those who stop at the door witness glassblowing for the first time in their lives. We are proud to continue the 5000-year-old tradition of glassmaking and to make it visible to new audiences.
