Anna SchroderusAnna has worked as an independent glass artist at the Hytti Glass Studio in the Bastion Hyve on Susisaari Island in Suomenlinna for over 20 years. Anna designs and creates her works herself. Her small-series production includes a wide range of household utility items: bowls, vases, drinking glasses, wine and shot glasses, bottles, and candlesticks. In her unique works, she delves into challenging and time-consuming techniques and sculptural expression. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Art and Design in 1997. Her studies included a minor in glass art, glass design, and glassblowing at the Department of Ceramics and Glass Design at the University of Art and Design. As part of her studies, she has studied glassblowing in Sweden and glass art in Canada. Anna has taught glass design for several years at the University of Art and Design and Aalto University, and has participated in exhibitions with her unique works. She organizes short glassblowing courses at her studio for both private students and groups. |

Esko KurvinenEsko Kurvinen is an industrial designer and Doctor of Arts. He has studied glassblowing at the University of Art and Design, as well as in Sweden and Canada. Glass has long been primarily a beloved hobby for him, as for most of his career he has conducted human and customer research and developed digital services in industry and in joint projects between universities and companies. In 2026, Esko transitioned full-time to glass. As a glass artist, he is interested in glass made in the studio (without grinding or other finishing work), as well as combining different hot glass techniques, such as glass casting and blown objects. As a designer, he aims to combine traditional craft methods with a modern design language. |
