Glass artists Anna Schroderus and Esko Kurvinen, working in Suomenlinna, present a series of works that examine the imagery of religions, mythologies, politics, and power, as well as their symbols, rituals, and external manifestations.

The exhibition is part of the USKO-FAITH multidisciplinary art series and has been realized in collaboration with Willman Dance Company.

The touring exhibition compiled by the Finnish Glass Museum celebrates the inclusion of handmade glass on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The exhibition tells about the tradition of handmade glass and Finnish glass industry activities and expertise.

Glass has been blown in Suomenlinna since the 1970s. The studio glass activities started by Heikki Kallio have been continued by Glass Studio Hytti, where several makers of utility and art glass have worked. The touring exhibition has been supplemented with works by Heikki Kallio and glass artists who worked in Suomenlinna in the 2020s.

Preserve your dreams in glass. Visitors can send their wishes and dreams in advance by email; Sini Majuri will incorporate them into her sculptures. The deadline for submitting dreams is June 1st, info@sinimajuri.fi.

In the demonstration, dreams etched into glass will build up in layers and be encased beneath the surface of glowing, molten glass. They will remain there, visible through the light, preserved for millennia. On-site, it will be possible to participate in the creation of the sculptures by sprinkling soda, which creates bubbles, onto the hot glass.

Laura Aalto-Setälä's work combines blown glass and material research.

Artist and researcher Laura Aalto-Setälä's work is based on research into glass materials. Her artistic thinking has developed particularly through research dealing with bioactive and other functional glass materials.

In her work, glass is viewed as an active and changing material, whose properties guide its form and creation.
The parts created during the glass blowing demonstration will later form a larger artwork through grinding and other post-processing.

The work is continuous, and there are no separate start times for the demonstration.
